Canada on Friday extends the restrictions on all non-essential travel till 21st July 2021.

Bill Blair, the Minister of Public Safety confirmed the news and said, Canada is extending the travel restrictions on non-essential international travel until July 21st, 2021.

Blair further added that the Canadian govt is planning measures for fully vaccinated Canadians, and others who are currently exempt from the restrictions to enter Canada. More details are forthcoming Monday.

However, people who fall under the following categories are exempted;

  • Canadian Citizens
  • Permanent Residents and their family members
  • Work Permit Holders
  • Some International Students, and
  • Some Approved Permanent Residents

The announcement comes a day after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and premiers met to discuss the possibility of opening the land border between Canada and the U.S., which has been closed for non-essential travel since March 2020.

Not just that, some provinces in Canada remain closed to each other. Ontario and Quebec only opened this week for nonessential travel between the two provinces. And Atlantic Canada will be closed to Canadians from elsewhere in Canada well into July.
