  • Amid the surge of coronavirus cases in the Himalayan country, the Govt. of Nepal on Sunday announced the suspension of all domestic and international flights until 14th May 2021.
  • As per the recommendations made by the Central COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC), all domestic flights will be suspended from 03 May 3 while international flights from Wednesday midnight (May 5).
  • Moreover, Nepal has also made quarantine mandatory for everyone arriving in the country.
  • All international passengers arriving in the Kathmandu Valley will have to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine in hotels upon their arrival.
  • Also, a negative RT-PCR test result obtained within 72 hours before departure from the country of origin is required for entry into Nepal.
  • It must be noted that the country has already halted the bus services since Thursday, April 29, reported Kathmandu Post.
  • Last week the country has also banned all foreign nationals from using Kathmandu as a transit point for the purposes of onward journeys to third countries.
  • The Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal on 26 April 2021 issued a notification and said,
  • “The arrival of foreigners intending to travel to third countries via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and using TIA as transit airport will be restricted from 28 April 2021 midnight till the next notice”. However, “… the ongoing services provided to travelers arriving in Nepal as a final destination and departing from Nepal will be continued as usual”.
