Itineraries

Day 1

Airport - Negombo

At the airport you will be greeted by your chauffeur guide who will take you to the fishing village of Negombo to the boutique hotel Villa Hundira. Enjoy your stay at this restored home which once was that of a local headman overlooking the lagoon.

Day 2

Negombo - Anuradhapura

Visit the fish market in the morning if you wish. Set off from coastal Colombo to experience the inland delights of Sri Lanka. Enjoy lunch at a delightful local restaurant en-route. Arrive at the boutique hotel Ulagalla Resort, set amidst a village near the ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura and resting beside the lush landscape of the Ulagalla lake.

Day 3

Anuradhapura

Explore Anuradhapura and Mihintale. The ruins of Anuradhapura are one of South Asia’s most evocative sights. The sprawling complex contains a rich collection of archaeological and architectural wonders: enormous dagobas (brick stupas), ancient pools and crumbling temples, built during Anuradhapura’s thousand years of rule over Sri Lanka.
Mihintale, the sleepy village and temple complex, holds a special place in the annals of Sri Lankan lore.

Day 4

Anuradhapura - Sigiriya

Rising dramatically from the central plains, Sigiriya, the enigmatic rocky outcrop of Sigiriya is perhaps Sri Lanka’s single most dramatic sight. Near-vertical walls soar to a flat-topped summit that contains the ruins of an ancient civilisation, thought to be once the epicenter of the short-lived kingdom of Kassapa, and there are spellbinding vistas across mist-wrapped forests in the early morning.
Pidurangala Rock is a massive rock formation almost directly opposite Sigiriya. Pidurangala has an equally majestic view as the former of rolling lake-and-land vistas.
Kings ruled the central plains of Sri Lanka from Polonnaruwa 800 years ago, when it was a thriving commercial and religious center. The glories of that age can be found in the archaeological treasures that still give a pretty good idea of how the city looked in its heyday.
Grab a cooling king coconut en route to refresh yourselves!
